DEFOREST, WISCONSIN –October 15, 2008 – In conjunction with World Dairy Expo held last week, ABS Global Technical Services held a successful symposium on one of the largest profitability influencer on a dairy—the milking procedure that takes place in the parlor.
The symposium, entitled “Parlor Training: Milk’em For All They’re Worth”, drew a crowd of nearly 45 dairy producers and industry personnel from around the globe. The symposium was sponsored by ABS, Ecolab and MEDA.

Featuring Dr. Roger Thomson of Team Management Concepts, PLC and Tom Wall of Language Links, the symposium focused on actions that can be taken in the parlor to ensure only clean, dry, well-stimulated teats are milked and profitability is maximized. Topics covered included mastitis prevention and treatment, importance of bedding types, milking equipment cleanliness and udder hygiene, among others. Throughout the presentation, Dr. Thomson would present research regarding important parlor procedures and Tom Wall would explain how to implement the procedure on a dairy.
