The year 2015-16 was a year of records for all in the beef industry. Record prices in the saleyards and at bull sales. ABS Australia retained the no. 1 industry position for beef semen sales. ABS Australia achieved a record annual sales result. It is a great time for all and great rewards for many producers that have toiled so hard for so long.
The ABS Seminar and Client Days were again very well received. The main event in Tasmania was a huge success, great viewing of progeny groups, 120 at the dinner and lots of fellowship. Dr. Cliff Lamb's talk and update on FTAI was thoroughly enlightening, please take the time to read Cliff's article on pages 53-56 of the directory. We encourage all breeders to consider attending the 2017 autumn event.
Again Bill travelled to New Zealand in May to view sires, progeny and attend bull sales.
In July Bill travelled to the USA for the annual inspection of sires and progeny review. Kim also travelled to the USA to see ABS sires, progeny in the field and meet ABS staff.
Fletcher Kelly has just joined the beef team. Fletch's manner, knowledge and enthusiasm will be a great asset to all in the industry.
Over the next 12 months we will be conducting more workshops on FTAI. We know synchronisation is a profitable management tool for beef producers and great gains with calving intervals and genetic growth are available.
We thank all supporters of the ABS Australia program.
