Synchronization
Maximizing pregnancy production requires prompt service and conception. The key opportunity for producers lies in improving service or submission rates, through visual heat detection and or synchronization programs. Through the strategic use of supplemental hormones prostaglandin, gonadatropin releasing hormone, and or progesterone, synchronization programs increase the number of animals exhibiting heat during a synchronized time period, decreasing labor requirements and shortening the breeding window.
Several factors influence the proper synchronization program to use:
- Breed
- Age of animals
- Animal Handling system
- Labor availability
- Management style
