InFocus Market Research Intern

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated professional to join our team as a InFocus (Beef on Dairy) Market Research Internship- Location based on candidate, with a wide variety of travel throughout summer. 

Open Role:

Beef InFocus intern will be invited to learn about this fastest-growing segment of feeder cattle production in our industry. Tracking and recording performance of Beef InFocus progeny from conception to harvest with some of ABS’s most skilled sales and support team members across North America.

Description:

Ideally, candidates have experience working in (any or all) the dairy production, calf ranches, beef cattle feeder industry as well as the meat science carcass performance of InFocus offspring.  Each candidate should have a willingness to learn more about the supply chain network connecting each InFocus calf from birth to harvest.

Responsibilities:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree in agriculture, sales, marketing, communications or related field.
  • Outgoing personality / excellent communication – verbal & written / people skills
  • Full understanding of Microsoft Office
  • Understanding or wiliness to engage in large herd Dairy production, Beef Feeder cattle, Meat Science (carcass performance).
  • Knowledge of the dairy and/or beef industry as it relates to the feeder calf market.

Beef Sales & Marketing

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated professional to join our team as a Beef Sales & Marketing Intern.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the marketing team with marketing collateral, advertising, and content creation

Marketing Copywriter- Starting Jan 2020

Technical & Genetic Services

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated professional to join our team as a Technical and Genetic Services Intern - Bilingual available in our headquarters – DeForest, WI. The ideal candidate will know how to breed cows and have an interest in learning more about how we provide technical support to our customers through on-farm trainings (reproductive, maternity, parlor procedures and more), data analysis and reporting and farm visits as well genetic advising through genetic audit, farm visits and genetic planning

The Candidate:

·       The successful candidate will be pursuing a Veterinary, Dairy or Animal Science, Animal Breeding, Genetics degree, or      another related field

·       Candidates pursuing post-graduate studies in Dairy, Animal Science or Genetics are welcome to apply.

·       The ability to speak in both English and Spanish is required to fulfill the internship.

·       The ability to read and write in Spanish is desired.

·       Insemination experience preferred

·       Excellent communication skills are required.

Dairy Bovine Reproduction & Breeding (Bachelor's degree NOT required)

Ideal candidate will have an interest in learning more about artificial insemination (AI), heat detection, creating pregnancies, synchronization programs, semen handling, and working hands-on with cattle and customers.

Supply Chain- Production & Processing (Bachelors degree NOT required)

The Supply Chain Interns will rotate through various Supply Chain departments to gain insight into the Supply Chain workflow and get first hand exposure to the Livestock Handling, Laboratory and Distribution teams. Responsibilities include providing excellent care and maintenance of the bull population, providing upkeep and security of the facilities; and assisting with the treatment of bulls as directed by our Veterinary staff. Additionally, the interns will work within a team, learn and assist in the processing, packaging and quality control of bovine semen. Interns will also have the opportunity to assist in receiving, warehousing and shipment of products.

  • Qualifications: Candidates will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, cattle experience and a valid driver's license.
  • Location: DeForest, Wis., USA – ABS Headquarters
  • Currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior, senior or recent graduate at an accredited tech, two year or four year college or university.

Genetic Management Systems

Ideal candidate will have an interest in learning about mating programs, utilizing data to make genetic predictions, processing herd profiles, and show interest in providing excellent sales support. Experience working with Microsoft Excel. Genetic, Reproductive and Dairy Management courses and Collegiate Judging Team experience are very beneficial. This internship candidate must be self-motivated, have excellent organizational and communication skills and be able to handle multiple projects.

  • This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills she or he may have acquired in school related to his or her particular areas of interest and apply them in a professional setting. He or she will gain a better understanding of the role that Human Resources can play in both field and corporate settings and be better prepared to work in the arena of human resources. The candidate will also have opportunities to network with the Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, and IT staff.

Genetic Data Analytics (GRADUATE STUDENT)

The Intern will support ABS Global Beef research and product development initiatives by supporting data related activities that include data mining, data pipeline development, and data analysis using various statistical and analytic tools. Additionally, the intern will generate information that will inform genetic strategies, genetic program development and custom genetic indices for the ABS proprietary genetic program.  This role will interact with individuals across the organization in support of these activities.

The Candidate:

Qualified candidates will possess a degree in Animal Science, Dairy Science, Genetics, Computer Science, Statistics or related field.  Strong analytical skills, familiarity with statistical packages (SAS, R, etc.), and experience with scripting or programming tools preferred. Genetic Data Analytics Ideal candidate will have an interest in genetic data analysis, utilizing data to develop on-farm genetic strategies, genetic program development, and custom genetic indices.

Co-op Research Engineer- IntelliGen

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Co-op Research Engineer position!

Aid in the research and development of technology through the execution of experiments including preparing and processing samples, operating laboratory equipment, and manufacturing of prototypes from concept to generation. Co-op research engineers can focus on multiple pathways in the company and candidates need not be proficient in all of the accountabilities listed below.

Legal Intern

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a legal internship position!

Legal Team is looking for an enthusiastic self-starter that can assist on several projects during the course of the internship.  Projects will be agreed on during the course of the internship, but may include researching regulations and case law, contract and template drafting, and managing corporate books and records.  This position is not eligible for a full-time offer post-graduation.
