This engineer will translate business goals into technical outcomes, collaborate effectively with the team, and take ownership from design through production support.<\/p>\n<p>The ideal candidate is a strong software engineer with solid PostgreSQL expertise and a passion for building high-quality solutions. They are intellectually curious, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning. While deep expertise in every technology within our stack is not required, success in this role requires a strong foundation in software development, an understanding of the end-to-end software delivery lifecycle, and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and deliver results.<\/p>\n<p>The preferred remote location for this position is Brazil, with approximately 5% domestic and international travel required.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Essential Duties and Responsibilities<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand business goals and translate them into practical, measurable technical solutions.<\/li>\n<li>Own work from discovery and design through development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and support.<\/li>\n<li>Develop web applications, backend services, APIs, data-processing solutions, integrations, and cloud services.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and maintain PHP applications and contribute to future use of Laravel and modern front-end frameworks.<\/li>\n<li>Design, optimize, test, and troubleshoot PostgreSQL solutions with complex SQL, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.<\/li>\n<li>Create automated unit, database, integration, API, and end-to-end tests as appropriate.<\/li>\n<li>Use AI tools for coding, testing, debugging, documentation, automation, and experimentation while recognizing when deterministic solutions are required.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to architecture decisions and evaluate trade-offs in value, speed, quality, security, performance, reliability, and cost.<\/li>\n<li>Understand how solutions are deployed, accessed, monitored, and supported in Microsoft Azure using Azure DevOps and CI\/CD practices.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate across product, business, data, platform, DevOps, security, and engineering teams.<\/li>\n<li>Troubleshoot across application, database, integration, and cloud layers and implement durable fixes.<\/li>\n<li>Continuously learn new technologies, test ideas quickly, and improve engineering practices and team effectiveness.<\/li>\n<li>Uphold the Genus core values, mission and vision.<\/li>\n<li>Performs other projects and responsibilities as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Requirements<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Basic Qualifications (Required):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong software engineering experience, including:\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrated record of delivering meaningful software outcomes, continuous growth, and the ability to explain what they want to learn and accomplish next.<\/li>\n<li>Strong software engineering, debugging, design, source control, code review, and production support skills.<\/li>\n<li>Backend development experience with PHP or a comparable language, with willingness to work in PHP and learn Laravel.<\/li>\n<li>Strong PostgreSQL and relational database experience, including complex SQL, transactions, stored procedures or functions, triggers, and performance tuning.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with REST APIs, backend services, data processing, and JavaScript-based web applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of automated testing across multiple test layers.<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of cloud delivery, security, availability, logging, monitoring, and operational support.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies, make progress without excessive direction, collaborate effectively, communicate trade-offs, and own outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Language Skills<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fluent in English required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Laravel and React, Angular, or Vue.js.<\/li>\n<li>TypeScript and Playwright or another browser automation framework.<\/li>\n<li>Python for automation, testing, prototyping, or data processing.<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps.<\/li>\n<li>CI\/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes concepts.<\/li>\n<li>NoSQL concepts, design trade-offs, and appropriate use cases.<\/li>\n<li>Application observability, performance monitoring, and production diagnostics.<\/li>\n<li>AI-assisted development or integration of AI into products and business
