R&D Sr. Electrical Engineer

Our challenge is to affordably and sustainably meet that escalating demand.We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Instrument Engineering team in pioneering research to transform the global animal protein industry. 


The Senior Electrical Engineer will architect and develop control and signal chain electronics for flow cytometry and other equipment used in the analysis and processing of animal cells.  This position will collaborate with engineers, technicians, software designers, life science researchers, and others to find solutions for existing and future instrumentation needs. This role will have ownership of the electronics development including circuits, PCBs, programmable logic code, test, debugging, documentation, validation, and implementation. As a member of the instrument engineering team, there will be frequent, multi-disciplinary team collaboration. Key Responsibilities: 

  • Work independently to design and develop electro-optical systems including detectors, analog front-end, signal acquisition, fine motor control, processor integration, digital logic design, and power distribution
  • Work collaboratively with other disciplines to solve functionality problems and other issues
  • Schematic capture and board layout using electrical CAD tools
  • Build and test prototypes
  • Develop Verilog programmable logic code for system control and data processing
  • Collaboration with software engineering team for development of embedded firmware code
  • Vendor interactions for fabrication of PCB assemblies and cables
  • Support instrument manufacturing and service
  • Support regulatory compliance of products including safety and EMC
  • Execute engineering best practices including requirements extraction, design reviews, and verification
  • Continuous improvement and adoption of new engineering methods and techniques

Minimal Qualifications: 

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years product development experience
  • Strong knowledge of mixed signal design techniques
  • Proficient in schematic capture and board design
  • Competent in Verilog or VHDL programming
  • Proficient with standard electronics lab equipment

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • MS in engineering
  • Experience with low noise analog design
  • Experience with embedded software programming
  • Experience on a multi-disciplinary product development team
  • Experience in scientific instrumentation
  • Experience in product regulatory compliance
