|The Role |
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Warehouse Operative Specialist to work in our EU Hub based in Towcester, Northamptonshire. The main purpose of this role is to accurately put away, pick and pack bovine semen for both GB and Export markets. The bovine semen needs to be distributed to strict distribution deadlines.
|Principal Accountabilities and Tasks|
Following set procedures, put away new semen coming into EU Hub, including semen from non Genus companies. To accurately record the locations per batch and bull on booking away paperwork for office administrators to book onto Oracle.
To accurately pick and pack semen against strict distribution deadlines for Exports and Genus GB site orders.
For GB packing, if semen not in correct location use Oracle to identify an alternative location. Alter picking list as appropriate and complete form so other technicians will know where to find semen in flask. For Exports to advise Export Customer Services who will identify alternative Export qualifying semen.
Locate, pack and add to GB delivery semen ordered by Genus customers from Non Genus companies
Audit all semen imports before semen is put away to identify any anomalies and report.
Arrange deliveries & collection of flasks already delivered to GB sites using carrier (UK Mail) online system
Print labels & manifest using carrier (DHL/UK Mail) supplied computer system and ensure all required labels are securely attached to flask and outer packaging.
Assist veterinary surgeon in examing and sealing tanks for Export.
Return flasks to semen companies that have sent semen to EU Hub, using carrier computer system.
Record on log where serial shipping flasks have been sent to & record flask returns
Alert Manager if flasks not returned in timeframe expected.
To accurately pick and pack any late, emergency GB site orders.
Clean down returned flasks, by removing labels, disinfecting and re-topping with liquid nitrogen.
Sort different size goblets for picking, and make goblet lifters.
Keep tidy store rooms and to alert manager in good time of any consumable stocks which is getting low and needs to be re-ordered.
Top up 50+ storage tanks with liquid nitrogen every day and keep any shipping flasks topped up as required.
Weekly housekeeping of semen storage – tracing “misplaced” stock, amalgamating semen in large goblets into smaller goblets to save space. Use of Oracle as directed to move Export inventory into different “Oracle organisation” and “inventories”.
As directed, cleaning large storage tanks by transferring stock into another identical empty storage tank.
Complete weekly perpetual stock checks.
Pack multi species orders.
Pick and disposal of semen the company no longer wants to keep against print out sheets provided.
Weekly sweeping and disinfecting of storage room floors and tidying of inside and outside of property in accordance with requirements of the Defra licence.
To adhere to Health and Safety guidelines in course of daily work with Liquid nitrogen.
To wear and use health and safety equipment as issued.
To make manager aware of any health and safety concerns, which required investigation and corrective action

A methodical , accurate working practise is essential
A good level of numeracy and ability to follow strict work processes.
Respect of dangers of handling liquid nitrogen and for heath and safety equipment supplied for job.
Good organisational abilities, with an ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines.
Flexibility to move to different tasks within warehouse.
