Based in Doncaster, Matthew Brooke operates 1,400-acres of arable land while also managing 300-acres for his dairy farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cows in the herd average 8,500 litres of milk which is supplied to Payne\u2019s Dairies. In addition, the family-run farm offers raw milk and milkshakes for locals to enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n

Success with maize additive<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Matthew has relied on Acti-Maize\u2122<\/a> for over 17 years to ensure his cows receive quality maize year-round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acti-Maize is a silage additive designed to enhance both the quality and quantity of maize silage. Dairy and beef farmers use it to promote greater financial and environmental sustainability in their operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matthew highlighted that using Acti-Maize keeps his maize cool during the summer months, compared to untreated silage. This is beneficial because it prevents spoilage, preserves nutritional value, and reduces dry matter losses. Matthew explained that using a maize additive ensures that he has access to good, stable feed, with preserved nutrients, and he notices that overall, there is less waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Impressed with the results, Matthew commented that he will always use a maize additive going forward. Part of Matthew\u2019s rationale for using an additive is because if he is \u201cgrowing good crop\u201d, he wants to \u201cpreserve good crop\u201d. Matthew believes that purchasing a maize additive only accounts for a small portion of the total costs associated with growing maize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recommendation to other farmers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Matthew says that he would recommend Acti-Maize to other farmers as the results yield a consistent good product for his herd, summarising that the \u201cproof is in the pudding\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n
