Diversity is the order of the day at GENUS ABS as they increase the number of sires now in the UK top 20

Genus ABS are proud to offer the most diverse portfolio of sires on the market whilst now boasting 14 of the top 20 £PLI sires. The Genus ABS number one £PLI sire is FB KENOBI TARGARYEN who sits on his throne with a £PLI of £790, closely followed by a long time favourite and popular sire DENOVO 15158 ADMIRAL at £774, occupying the second spot for Genus ABS.

As a responsible and customer centric business that prides itself on providing the best genetics to help our customers Profit From Genetic Progress, Genus ABS now offer the number one Polled sire at £680 £PLI – WINSTAR EDGE-P, a polled ABS CRIMSON son of Seagull-Bay Karamae (a recently fresh Delta daughter of the Rubicon Sister to SEAGULL-BAY SLVR KIMBALL who has had a great day as a proven sire). EDGE-P has impressed everyone with his leading health and fitness package, and despite the industry wide base change he brings a Fertility Index of +13 and produces daughters that will live 176 days longer than the national average cow.

SHG RAINSTORM RED comes in as the number one Red sire in the breed,Stephanie Doherty, European Breeding Programme Manager comments “RAINSTORM RED descends from the great line of the Golden-oaks Mark Prudence EX95 cow family, boasting numerous generations of VG & EX cows. He offers almost 600kgs of milk with huge fat and protein deviations, great Lifespan and over 7.5 daughter fertility index. In addition to this he offers fantastic type and great mammary improvement”.

On a proven footing, Genus ABS again strengthens their line-up with SEAGULL-BAY-MJ APPLEJAX, adding yet more daughter information, increasing his daughter count to 536 in 154 with almost 500 of them milking in UK herds. “APPLEJAX has broke the mould this time”, begins Hannah Goodwin, “His fertility has risen by 0.2 to an amazing +11.6, in spite of the industry wide base change that effectively knocked off 3.1 points of fertility. He has also risen from +1.69 UK Type Merit to +2.05, again in spite of the 0.6 reduction we saw across all bulls as result of the base change”.

Hannah Goodwin concludes, “Genus ABS customers should be aware that there has been an industry wide base change applied to all bulls in the market. So be prepared to reassess your thinking on all the traits for these bulls.
