International ABS meeting brings together representatives from more than 50 affiliated laboratories to share expertise, showcase new technologies, and strengthen global collaboration in embryo production.
This week, Brazil hosted embryo production specialists from more than 10 countries during the Global ABS Embryo Meeting, an international event organized by ABS that brought together representatives from over 50 affiliated laboratories. The meeting focused on sharing best practices across markets, presenting new technologies, and strengthening international collaboration to advance efficiency and innovation in bovine reproduction.
Over the course of two days, professionals from research, in vitro fertilization (IVF), technical services, and commercial development exchanged results, case studies, and strategies aimed at improving reproductive performance, accelerating technological innovation, and expanding embryo production across different regions of the world. The program also included hands-on laboratory and on-farm sessions.
According to Paula Rodríguez-Villamil, Global Director of ABS Embryo, bringing the international network together in person represents an important milestone for accelerating innovation. “After many Years, we were finally able to bring our entire global network together again. Our goal was to share results, benchmark different markets, and explore new technologies that will further strengthen ABS’s global Embryo business.”
In addition to technical presentations, participants took part in practical activities designed to encourage knowledge exchange among professionals facing similar challenges in different regions. “This is a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge with people who do the same work we do every day,” said Karina Ramírez, from VitroTec Laboratory in Paraguay.
Although each market has its own characteristics, many of the technical challenges are shared. Exchanging experiences enables faster learning and more effective solutions. This was highlighted by Marcelo Albornoz, Executive Director of Invitro Laboratory in Argentina, who presented his team’s experience. “We shared our expertise in exports, commercialization, and market integration. This type of collaboration strengthens the entire network.”
The meeting also featured insights from Paul Thomaz, Distributor Business Development Manager, who shared ABS Embryo’s growth story across Asia and the Middle East. “We had an extraordinary year and doubled our sales. More importantly, those results reflect the strength of teamwork within ABS. People are what truly make the difference.”
During the event, ABS also introduced a new digital platform designed to strengthen its global network of affiliated laboratories and provide greater support to partners around the world.
According to Roberta Reis, Franchise Coordinator, the new platform represents a significant step forward in operational efficiency. “Until now, many of our processes relied on spreadsheets, local controls, and decentralized communication between teams. That required significant manual work, created rework, and made global data consolidation more difficult. With the new platform, all processes will be integrated into a single system.”
The Global ABS Embryo Meeting reinforces ABS’s commitment to advancing embryo technologies through science, collaboration, and continuous innovation, further strengthening its position as a global leader in bovine genetics and reproductive solutions.
