RippleMatch recognizes ABS as a 2023 Campus Forward Award Winner

Madison, WI: The ABS team has been named a 2023 Campus Forward Award Winner by RippleMatch, a U.S. recruitment platform that matches employers with Gen Z talent. This award recognizes excellence in early career hiring by celebrating companies that embrace innovative recruitment strategies, make significant investments in diversity and inclusion, and support the next generation of talent through impactful internships and entry-level programs.

ABS has been identified as one of these exemplars of excellence and officially received this recognition during a special virtual ceremony on January 11, 2023.

The overall goal of ABS’s early-in-career programs is to find diverse, high-quality talent in high schools, tech schools, and universities who will partner with the company to learn, experience, and live its culture with the potential to commit their future career with ABS. ABS has had success with this goal; they have 50% retention rate for students who have completed their internship program.

“My internship exceeded my expectations,” says Grant Sardella, former intern and current Beef Testing Coordinator. “I started with little knowledge about the dairy industry and genetics. I now feel educated enough to have conversations with people in the industry and the workplace about how to improve the dairy industry genetically. I have met some amazing people and truly been able to understand what it takes to have a career in this industry. I am proud to have been an ABS intern and now work full-time for the company.”

By attending over 30 career fairs and networking events around North America each year, ABS offers over 35 students a summer internship by their Christmas break in a variety of fields: marketing, finance, reproduction, biology, sales, supply chain, genetics, computer science, engineering, and more.

At the start of the summer, interns attend an in-person orientation at ABS’s DeForest headquarters where they tour the facilities, set goals, and participate in personal and professional development. Upon completion of their internship, interns gather again in DeForest where they make a formal presentation about their experiences; outstanding interns are awarded an additional scholarship.

ABS also offers an Australian Immersion Program as a next step for Reproductive Interns, and has also created a pipeline for Wisconsin High School Apprentice students.

“We have worked very hard in recent years to improve and grow our internship and entry-level programs,” says Christina Bleifuss, Student Program Manager. “So, it is really exciting to see those efforts acknowledged by RippleMatch.”
