A diverse lineup gives dairy producers more ways to make genetic progress while helping manage the risks that come with relying too heavily on individual sires, genetic lines, and specific traits. ABS’ October 2026 new sire releases continue that approach with new, balanced genetics designed to deliver genetic progress across the traits that matter to today’s dairy producers.
The October new sire releases introduced by ABS included 19 new Holstein sires, two new Jersey sires, and eight new Prime Time releases, including two British Friesians and one Slick bull. The lineup also includes 29HO22907 MICAH, a new Linear Choice sire.
But the strength of this release goes beyond the number of new sires. The new additions to our already strong lineup represent 16 different sires and 8 different maternal grandsires, giving producers more genetic options to build a breeding strategy that meets the needs of their individual herd.
Genetic Progress without Putting All Your Eggs in One Basket
Genetic progress is important, but how that progress is achieved matters. Focusing too heavily on a limited number of sires or genetic lines can increase exposure to risks associated with reranking, fertility difference, and hidden haplotypes. A diverse genetic portfolio helps spread that risk while providing producers with more options to achieve their specific breeding goals. ABS recommends incorporating four to six sires per Sire Summary, with no more than two by the same sire, to help maintain diversity within a genetic plan. This exact logic is also applied within our own breeding program.
Balanced genetics matters just as much. Rather than selecting for one trait at the expense of others, ABS focuses on creating diverse groups of balanced sires that can help producers build healthy, productive, long-lasting cows suited to their individual systems. We strive to support dairy producers in creating heifer replacements that turn into cows that are profitable year after year. That’s the ABS COW!
Balanced Genetics You Can See
The averages of the newly released Holstein sires demonstrate strength across production, health, fertility, and type traits rather than genetic progress concentrated in just one area.

With strength in traits such as NM$, Milk, Productive Life, and Daughter Pregnancy Rate alongside moderate stature, the October lineup gives producers options to make progress toward a more balanced and profitable herd.
More Options, More Ways to Make Progress
No two dairies have exactly the same goals, environment, or milk market. That’s why genetic progress shouldn’t come from a one-size-fits-all approach. ABS develops a diverse portfolio of balanced sires that can work across different dairy genetic plans and help producers make breeding decisions tailored to their herd.
The October releases continue that commitment: more diversity, balanced strengths and a responsible path toward long-term genetic progress.
